Couldn’t resist treating myself to a copy of this beautiful new hardcover book as an early Chrissie present to myself. It lists every published Penguin Classics title in chronological order (!) from Gilgamesh to the early twentieth century, with illustrations of all the covers. A catalogue of publications, a chronological presentation of literature, and a glorious coffee table reference book to boot.
I was not the only member of my family to be salivating over this lovely book. My old cat had to drool on the cover (literally) so I had to be put the book under the hair dryer to dry.
I predict that Penguin Classics collecting will come out of the woodwork with this guide as a prompt. Better invest in some second hand copies asap.
I’m drooling too, especially at the thought of all the list-making and spreadsheet possibilities… where’s the hair-dryer??
